“He Finally Heard the World Clearly” – Susan’s Journey with Her Son Adam
Susan always knew her son Adam was bright. From the outside, he seemed like an average student: two Bs every year—always in math and grammar. But something didn’t add up. His spelling was inconsistent, his penmanship lagged far behind, and he often appeared exhausted by mid-morning at school.
“He was only in the second lesson, and it already looked like he was half asleep,” Susan recalls. “Teachers said he was distracted and inattentive, yet he always knew the answers when asked directly. The disconnect just didn’t make sense.”
For years, Adam received vague institutional feedback: attention and concentration problems—but never enough to warrant deeper evaluation. That changed when a family friend suggested something Susan had never considered before: hypersensitive hearing.
An extended auditory assessment revealed that Adam had unusually acute hearing. Most strikingly, when tested for speech understanding in background noise, his comprehension dropped to 50% at just 70 decibels. “We were told it was practically a miracle he had learned to speak at all,” Susan says.
Meeting with Beata Fazekas clarified the situation even further. She explained that everyday conversations happen around 60 decibels. This meant Adam often understood less than half of what people said to him. Additional testing revealed that his nervous system was in overdrive, constantly processing far more auditory information than necessary – leading to the chronic fatigue his teachers observed.
That’s when Susan and Adam began Intelisten Program. The impact was almost immediate.
“Just days later, he was noticeably calmer at home, more focused, and less overwhelmed,” Susan says. “A month later, he aced a handwriting test for the first time in four years.”
His grammar grade climbed to an A. Teachers noted how much more engaged he was during lessons – able to maintain focus well into the school day. Perhaps the most profound moment came six months after the training, when Adam returned from a school swimming lesson saying, “I finally understood what the instructor was saying.” Until that point, Susan hadn’t realized how much of the world he had been missing.
From then on, Adam’s progress was steady and undeniable. He finished primary school with excellent grades and was able to choose his next school freely. “He’s now 16 – balanced, confident, and happy. I truly believe that wouldn’t have happened without the support and insight Beata and her listening program gave us.”
Reflecting back, Susan only wishes they had found the training earlier. But even so, she says, “It was absolutely worth it. Since then, all we’ve seen is progress – and Adam finally feels comfortable in his own skin.”
